New wildlife centre opens

Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre founder Dr Liza Schneider is thrilled to announce the opening of the charitable trust's new centre in Oropi on Saturday, October 17.


Chrissy Jefferson in the ARRC trust's new wildlife facility which gives a lot more aviary space for injured birds like Toot Toot the Tui has no tail feathers so can only fly about one metre at a time.

ARRC plays a big role in assisting wildlife throughout the Bay of Plenty with volunteers looking after injured and orphaned wildlife.
'The new centre has much larger aviary spaces with a natural, native bush environment and a space especially for moreporks. The quality is outstanding,” says Liza.
'We are passionate about caring for our native wildlife and recognise the great value and importance of education and creating public awareness in order to ensure the long term health of our wildlife and their natural environments.”
Don Merton, a prominent New Zealand conservationist responsible for saving the little black robins on Chatham Island, and patron of ARRC, will open the centre at 3pm. Supporters, volunteers and interested public are invited to attend. To register, phone Chrissy Jefferson, 07 543 1116.
