Traffic is down to one lane as Greerton Fire Brigade deal with a transformer fire in Maleme Street.
The fire was reported shortly before 2.15pm.
Fire services are in attendance on Maleme Street, Greerton.
Police have been called in to help manage traffic and power authorities have been notified.
Greerton senior station officer Neil Brown is on the scene, and says they can't touch the transformer until power authorities have arrived.
They are using foam and powder to contain the fire.
