Police investigate car fire

Police are investigating a car fire in Te Puke this afternoon after firefighters spent 25 minutes extinguishing the blaze.

Te Puke Fire Brigade was called to a car on fire on Chaytor Street about 12.53pm.


Te Puke firefighters spent 25 minutes at a car fire on Chaytor Street this afternoon.

Northern Fire Communication shift manager Jaron Phillips says the car was well involved when firefighters arrived at the scene.

'The blaze was extinguished fairly quickly. We were only there for about 25 minutes all up.”

Jaron says the scene has been handed over to police.

'I'm not sure if the fire is being treated suspiciously but they are investigating.”
