A collision involving a car and a scooter has caused traffic to back up on Cameron Road near Ninth Avenue.

A police spokesperson says police were called to the scene of the crash at around 4.30pm.

"It appears to have involved a vehicle and a scooter," says the police spokesperson.

"There is no details on injuries."

A St John spokesperson says one person suffered minor injuries.

"St John was notified of a motor vehicle incident on Cameron Rd at 4.25pm and responded one ambulance. We assessed and treated one patient with minor injuries who was transported to Tauranga hospital," says the St John spokesperson.

A witness at the scene says the traffic has been blocked, but is now clearing.
