Creative Bay of Plenty and Acorn Foundation have opened applications for two arts-based scholarships designed to nurture emerging talent in the Western Bay.

The Jann Medlicott Creative Arts Scholarship is valued at $5,000 and supports the study of creative arts in any genre.

Applicants must be undertaking or about to commence further study in preparation for a career in a creative arts programme or discipline.

The Coker Classical Arts Scholarship will award $1,000 to a Year 13 student that has a proven interest and talent in classical painting and who wishes to pursue studies in visual art at Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland.

To be eligible for one of these scholarships to cover 2022 calendar year studies or training, applicants must reside in Tauranga/Western Bay district or have completed part of their secondary education here and submit their application by 5pm on August 2 2021.

Recipient of the 2020 Jann Medlicott Creative Arts Scholarship Sarah Mileham put her award towards the study of a Bachelor of Music, majoring in classical voice performance at Victoria University.

'I am so thankful for the financial support I have received through this scholarship,” says Sarah.

'My studies and development at the New Zealand School of Music have been an amazing pathway to a future singing career.”

Creative Bay of Plenty encourages those with artistic development opportunities to apply for this scholarship funding.

The team at the non-profit cultural organisation is available to discuss submission guidelines and assist potential applicants.
