Vehicle pursuit from Rotorua ends in Matata

Update 9.10pm: Police report that a vehicle failed to stop for Police at around 4:40pm on Fenton Street in Rotorua.

"Police pursued the vehicle," says a Police spokesperson.

"At around 5:30pm the vehicle came to a stop after spikes were laid on Herepuru Rd, Matata.

"A 28-year-old man was arrested and has been charged with a number of charges including failing to stop, driving while disqualified and driving in a dangerous manner."

Police say the man is due to appear in the Rotorua District Court on Monday. 

Earlier 7.11pm:

There are reports across social media of a Police pursuit that has taken place this evening between Lake Rotoma and Matata.

It is understood that Manawahe residents saw the car involved in the pursuit being spiked, and the occupants taken into custody by Police.
