Champ vs Champ for title

Papamoa fighter Sarah Rankin is training hard and is focused on winning her title fight at the Total Impact Thai Boxing on April 28.

The TBA New Zealand Champion will be taking on WKN Australian champion Kim Townsend, from Perth, for the IKBF South Pacific Junior Flyweight title.

'It will be a New Zealand champ vs Australian champ. It's is going to be a war.

'I have been training really hard for this fight. I train six days a week.”

Sarah does all her training when she finishes work as a bank teller at Westpac Bank.

'I have a really busy life,” she says.

Sarah will join a range of other fighter, including two 14-year-olds, on the fight night at the Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre.

'My Partner Garth Fogden is promoting the show and our good friend David Reid is Co-Promoting with him.

'This event will have two other IKBF South Pacific title fights, NZ champ vs Aussie champ, and a NZ title fight.

'The Total Impact Junior title will see our youngest fighter from our gym, Eben Cullen, battle it out with Sam Duncan, from Whakatane, in a full amateur fight.”
She says there are also about 12 undercard fights.

'A show of this magnitude has never been seen in Tauranga.

'We have five of our own fighters from our gym, Impact 8 Thai Boxing Papamoa that will fight on the night along with a number of other local fighters from around the bay.”
