State Highway 5 has been closed to all high-sided vehicles, including campervans, caravans and motorcycles due to windy weather conditions.
Police say the situation will be reassessed later this morning.
'Affected motorists are asked to delay their travel if possible.
'All motorists are asked to drive with care.”
State Highway 5 extends from Tirau near the Waikato River to State Highway 2, near Napier, and runs through Rotorua and Taupo.
