UPDATED: Power is back on in Tauranga this afternoon.
Power went down at 2.15pm, affecting businesses on The Strand, McLean Street and Anson Street.
Power is investigating the cause of the outage.

Power is out in the Tauranga CBD this afternoon.
Power went down at 2.15pm.
According to Powerco, 375 properties are affected by the outage.
"We have dispatched contractors to the area to fix the problem as soon as possible," says a Powerco spokesperson.
Power is estimated to be back up around 6.30pm
A site investigation is underway into the cause.
