BOP carpentry apprentices put to the test

Sam Pulis, 23, was named the Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Apprentice of the Year in 2018.

This Saturday June 22, carpentry apprentices in Tauranga will be putting their skills to the test in a practical challenge as part of the Bay of Plenty Registered Master Builders CARTERS 2019 Apprentice of the Year.

This is the second year regional practical challenges have been part of the competition. Apprentices will also be judged on their initial entry submission, with the top 10 in each region progressing to an interview with the judging panel and an onsite visit where contestants will discuss their project.

The winning apprentice from each region will go on to compete at the national competition in Auckland in November.

They will be vying for the title of Registered Master Builders CARTERS 2019 Apprentice of the Year, and a share of more than $100,000 in prizes.

The practical challenge is taking place at 9am at Carters Tauranga on Saturday.

The Registered Master Builders CARTERS Apprentice of the Year competition is made possible thanks to principal sponsor CARTERS and the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation.
