Make sure to pack your umbrellas and rain jackets tomorrow, it is set to be a wet and windy first week of June.

A MetService spokesperson says a significant low is set to approach the North Island from the north Tasman Sea on Tuesday.

'The low should deepen and move east-southeast over the North Island on Wednesday, bringing rain and strong winds to the North Island and the top of the South Island, and also snow to the Kaikoura Ranges and the central high country of the North Island, which may affect higher parts of the road late Wednesday and early Thursday.

'It is followed by cold and strong south westerlies over much of the country during Thursday and Friday.”

The eastern Bay of Plenty should expect moderate amounts of rain on Wednesday.
