A Recreation Aotearoa representative paid visit to TECT All Terrain Park last week to present the park with a Green Flag award.

Parks and Open Spaces Programme Manager Karl Nesbitt travelled from Wellington to formally present the inaugural award.

Many notable community members attended, such as the mayors of Western Bay and Tauranga City councils, Garry Webber and Greg Brownless, Deputy Chief Executive Gary Allis, TECT Park Manager Bill Wheeler, TECT Deputy Chair Natalie Bridges and Council Reserves and Facilities Manager Peter Watson.

TECT All Terrain Park was the top contender from the 27 Green Flag Parks throughout the country, six of these met the 27 criteria for this individual award and were judged by industry peers.

The international Green Flag Award programme represents parks that are well managed, sustainable, communicate with their community, are fit for purpose and are accessible. There are more than 2500 Green Flag parks worldwide.
