Please be aware there is a large swell today (Sunday 10 February) which is causing some waves to wash up over parts of the Mauao base track.
If you are using the base track today, please exercise caution, particularly if you have children with you.
At this stage the base track is still open to the public. High tide is due to hit around lunchtime today (Sunday 10 February).
Our Parks team is monitoring the situation and signage is in place. We will continue to monitor it until after high tide.
We will issue another media advisory if the base track needs to close.
