Heavy fog was possibly a contributing factor to an accident on State Highway 29 this morning.
Police received a report at around 8.45am that a car had been driven into a fence on the Waikato side of the Kaimai Range.
A police spokesperson says there was heavy fog in the area at the time.
'There was one person in the car, who suffered no injuries,” she says.
'The road was partially blocked and one lane was closed. Police were on scene to control the traffic.”
A tow truck was due at the crash scene at around 9.30am, so police expect the road to be clear now.

drivers treat this road as a hill climb competition regardless of the conditions. no surprises about the crashes.

"drive to the conditions"...hah !..think about it fellow Kaimai road users, is the road REALLY that bad..or the way many, if not most use (and abuse) it?...as it is, treat it and your fellow motorists with respect, and there shouldn't be a problem, but yes dumbkof2, it always seems to quickly turn into a hill climb comp. Noticed how many actually go FASTER when it's raining?..notice that a lot around the city, why is that?

Might be Darwins theory at work groutby? I guess, if the conditions are bad, if one goes as fast as possible, they will be off the road sooner which lessens the risk? They must think it is something along those lines....
