The beauty of our flaws

“When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandise the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe that when something has suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful.” Barbara Bloom.

Imagine taking something that we perceive as ugly within ourselves, our weaknesses and flaws, and turning them into something of beauty.

We often attempt to hide the cracks we see in ourselves, when in fact they can add to our beauty through the experiences and insights we gain in those difficult times.

Do you accept your cracks and allow them to form you, or do you attempt to hide, and therefore ignore, the beauty that can form within you through those very cracks?
