Tauranga woman Diana Judge is asking people to help her wipe away poverty by buying toilet paper to help her raise funds for charity projects around the world.

Diana Judge says everyone needs toilet paper, so it’s the perfect way to raise the money needed for her next building project in Uganda.
Diana is the founder of Break Free Expeditions, an organisation that connects people hands-on with poverty projects in countries such as Africa, Russia and Mexico.
On December 31, she and a group of New Zealanders, including two people from Tauranga and two from Te Puke, travel to Uganda to build a school classroom for orphans of war and HIV at Watoto Children’s Village in Kampala.
The team has raised most of the US$20,000 required for building materials but still has $4000 to go. Much of this money has been raised through Diana’s Wipe Poverty Away campaign, where people can buy a box of 48 rolls of two ply New Zealand and Australian made toilet paper (made by the same company that makes Purex) for $60, of which the $25 profit goes to the TEAR Fund Watoto Building Fund. People can also buy four rolls for $5.
“Toilet paper is great to sell as a fundraiser as everyone needs it and it doesn’t make you fat,” says Diana.
Next year she will lead groups to the Living Hope Children’s Centre in Vladivostok, Russia and to the slums of Tijuana, Mexico.
For more information, phone Diana, 574 7214. The toilet paper is also for sale at Mondo Travel, Devonport Rd and at Bay Office Products Depot, corner Elizabeth St and Glasgow St.
