The Lakes subdivision at Tauriko is hosting a regatta of radio controlled model yachts over the weekend, and on Monday. Organised by the Tauranga Radio Sailing Club, the 2010 National Championship Regatta has attracted entries from round the country and Australia.
Fourty two one metre class yachtswill be contesting the 2010 National Championship Regatta. The radio controlled yachts will be racing in 15 heats each day with about 12 yachts in each race.
Spectators are welcome. The embankment round Lake Taurikura provides good viewing and developer Grasshopper Properties provided a wharf and a jetty on the west bank north of the bridge.
