The Mount Maunganui branch of transport company Fulton Hogan is defending its title this year in the No Pollute Commute Corporate Challenge.
The company won last year’s challenge and have entered again because staff at the company want to “improve their score” in the event running now till March 19.

The event involves businesses looking to reduce the mileage their staff travel during the commute to and from work – with the business reducing this the most winning the competition.
Fulton Hogan’s Hendrik Metz says reducing green house gas emissions is good for the environment and the long term economic wellbeing of his company.
“Our involvement in this challenge supports our other initiatives to optimise energy use across our business and is a fun way of promoting awareness of simple steps that can be taken everyone to reduce fuel consumption.”
He says the company is using new strategies for this year’s challenge, including an internal workplace instructor to deliver the Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving programme recently launched by the Ministry of Transport.
“We are confident it will deliver significant improvements particularly for our heavy vehicle fleet.”
