UPDATED (2.20pm) : A head on collision between two trucks closed a section of State Highway 2, near Ngatea.
The road is now open.
Northern Fire Communications shift manager Dallas Ramsay says both trucks have ended up the ditch.

She says emergency services were called to the scene around 10.15am.
"One person was trapped inside a vehicle and ambulance staff have called for a resuce helicopter to transport both patients to hospital."
