Train victim continues to recover

A Tauranga woman who suffered critical injuries after being struck by a train last month continues to recover in hospital.

The incident involving the 48-year-old woman happened on Ngatai Road, near Chevron Drive, at about 8.30pm on Sunday April 26.

She was taken to Tauranga Hospital with life threatening injuries.

A Waikato District Health Board spokesperson says the woman is in a stable condition after being transferred to Waikato Hospital.

Western Bay of Plenty Police area prevention manager Inspector Karl Wright-St Clair says police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

The Police Serious Crash Unit investigated, but it is not known how the woman ended up under the middle of the train.

The incident occurred near Chevron Drive, near the spot where a person was killed after being hit by a train in August 2012.
