A Tauranga man has been charged with the alleged stabbing of a 41-year-old man following an incident at a Belk Road address over the weekend.

In an statement released this morning, Police say the 32-year-old will appear in Tauranga District Court today.

Police received reports of a serious assault at the address just after 4.30am on Sunday, where the man had received a stab wound.

He was taken to Tauranga Hospital, where he underwent surgery and was subsequently transferred to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.

He is in a stable condition as of this morning.

The 32-year-old was known to the victim.
