A man found dead in a crashed car in Rotorua on Saturday morning has been identified as 21-year-old Rotorua man Elisha Areli.

A serious crash investigation is underway and police are still working on the belief that the crash occurred sometime between midnight and 2am on Saturday morning.
The man's car, which police say had left the road and struck a tree, was discovered by a Rotorua resident shortly before 7am.
