A man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Whakatane overnight.

Emergency services were called to Keepa Rd about 8.50pm on Friday after the crash between the man and a vehicle.

Emergency services worked to save the man but he died at the scene from his injuries, police say in a statement.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and diversions are in place via Ferguson and Huna roads.
