Pre-schoolers make a splash

With the colder months fast approaching, a new water-based children's aqua play session has been launched in Mount Maunganui.

Mount Hot Pools' ‘Soak n Splash' hits the water on Thursday morning aiming to enable pre-schoolers to have fun together in the pools during a set session time each week, as well as being social for caregivers too.

Now held every Thursday, from 10am to midday, parents or caregivers get to soak, while their children splash and gain water confidence.

Aquatic equipment is available for the kids and adults to utilise. They can also use the toddlers' pool and slide.

Mount Hot Pool's Manager Matthew Strange says the concept will provide a great opportunity for parents and their pre-schoolers to get together at the same time each week to enjoy water play together.

Matthew says: 'It is really important for children to engage with water at an early age to start gaining water confidence and ability, especially in the New Zealand environment, so we hope this programme will provide that in a fun way.”

'It's the casual, fun, aquatic version of the very popular land-based Tumble Time, also offered by Bay Venues.”

There is a discounted entry into the Hot Pools of $8 for one adult and one pre-schooler , while an additional pre-schooler (maximum two per adult) is $2.

However, a further 20 per cent discounted entry is also offered to families who attend Tumble Time or Gym Gility in the same week.
