Levi will be laid to rest surrounded by friends and family.

In his funeral notice, Levi is described as a precious son, much loved brother, uncle and cousin.

'Loved also by many more family members and friends. Never, ever to be forgotten,” his funeral notice reads.

Levi died on his way to Tauranga Hospital following the crash.

According to police, officers responding to an out-of-control party on Mountain Road had signalled for a Nissan Cefiro, driven by Levi, to pull over because it had no tail lights on.

'Instead, the vehicle accelerated away and disappeared over a bank within seconds, while one of the officers was still on the radio reporting that the vehicle had failed to stop,” says a statement from police.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority is still determining whether or not they will investigate the crash.

The police serious crash unit is looking into the matter.
