What does Papamoa need?

Councillors were in Papamoa this morning in an attempt to gauge what the Papamoa community thinks should be in the Tauranga City Council Long Term Plan.

The city council hosted a stall at the Little Big Markets at Papamoa Domain and will be at the Mount Farmers Market in Phoenix carpark tomorrow morning.

There is just over a week left for the public to make submissions on the direction the council will be heading in over the next few years, with a 4pm deadline on April 20.

Growth is an issue for Tauranga, requiring financial juggling to maintain the balance between running and paying for the existing infrastructure and services while ensuring there's enough land services and housing to cater for the new comers to the area.

The trade-offs involved are also open to discussion until April 20. Read more here.

SunLive spoke to people in Papamoa to see what they would like to see in their community as part of the council's LTP.

Maybe to pay back Tauranga?

I'm told all Tauranga ratepayers paid for Papamoa's sewerage scheme after local authority amalgamation. Don't suppose paying that back will be top of the wish list? But seriously why does Council go out there asking people what they want when nobody wants to pay for it? Duh.

Pap & Parton headache

The roundabout at Papamoa Beach Rd & Parton Rd is well overdue. There is mayhem at critical hours of the day.
