Te Puke police say charges could be laid after a crash between a school bus and a car on State Highway 33 occurred near Paengaroa on Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened on a sharp corner near Maungarangi Road at about 4.30pm as the bus driver attempted to make a left hand turn.

File Picture.

Sergeant Mike Owens says most of the children on the school bus had been dropped off and only one student was on it at the time of the crash.
He says before the bus turned left it moved over towards the right hand side of the road so it had enough room for the turn.
A vehicle following the bus attempted to pass it, but instead a collision occurred.
Mike says both people in the vehicle were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The school bus driver and the student on the bus were not hurt.
