New slot for night market

The Tauranga Night Market, which operates at Bayfair Shopping Centre on Sunday evenings, is changing days due to public and stallholders' requests.

Market director Cadence Kaumoana says the event will now run every Saturday from Easter weekend through to next summer, making it the only night market to operate over the winter.

The Tauranga Night Market is changing from Sunday to Saturday nights.

'We don't have any markets in Tauranga that operate during the winter,” says Cadence.

'We're the first winter night market that Tauranga's had.”

Cadence says it was Tauranga Night Market's decision to change the market day from Sunday to Saturday nights.

'That was the demand from the public and from stall holders that Saturday was the preference.

'We want to accommodate for families, business people and more of the local community by having it on a Saturday. It's also to support local businesses so that they can operate their stalls on a Saturday.”

The Sunday night market operated at Bayfair Shopping Centre from 5.30pm. The new Saturday market will start at 6pm – and Cadence is excited about the change.

'It means more stall holders and more people can come – and we can have a night market that has an electric vibe, great food and an awesome night out for all.

'Being the only night market in operation for several months, until summer, we are happy to provide Tauranga with a wonderful night of fun, food and entertainment.”
