They're tiny but when it comes to personality all other dogs pale in comparison to the pintsized pug.

Auckland Pug Club secretary and Tauranga local Julie Hudson invited Tauranga pug owners to join her for a get-together at Memorial Park on Eleventh Ave this afternoon.

Julie says the club is wanting to establish an official presence here in town for local pedigree pug owners.

'We thought it'd be nice to get something going, whether as a regular walking group, hold match days, or something along those lines.

'This Sunday I would love people to show up with their pugs so we can sit down and talk about what they would like to see happen here.”

Julie says any group established here would most likely be a 'sub-club” of the Auckland Pug Club; the oldest of three groups officially recognised by the New Zealand Kennel Club.

Along with putting local owners in touch with one and other, the group would also share information, tips and advice on all things pug.

'There's a lot of people who have pugs in Tauranga and the Mount and we want to encourage people to do the correct breeding rights and provide the proper care.”

Julie is down by the water at Memorial Park on Eleventh Ave from 2pm today.

There is already a pug club here in Tauranga?? BOP Pug Club.. It's on Facebook! The woman turns up with her pugs in a cage and stands them on top as if showing, they are not allowed to run and socialise with the others? Also no pug cross breeds are invited, so people be prepared to produce your pedigree papers so she can tell you all the faults on your beloved pet :(

Contradiction?!

@ I Love God: "Genetic mistake" comment from some one calling themselves "I Love God"... seems a contradiction in faith?!
