Thames-Coromandel CIB detective sergeant Martyn Hughes says the Coromandel man was discovered by police who were called out to a domestic related matter on Sunday evening.

'A post-mortem examination was conducted in Auckland on Tuesday,” says Martyn. 'However we are awaiting the results of further forensic tests before we can determine the nature of Mr Smith's death.

'Until such time as we have those results the matter will remain unexplained.”

Martyn adds that police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the matter and the death has now been reported to the Coroner.
