Excess ACC levies costing jobs

The Government is overcharging Kiwi businesses by $350 million a year in ACC levies, says Labour Leader Andrew Little, who says it's a move that costs 700 jobs and takes $70 million out of the economy.

'It's time to stop the ACC rip-off. An independent report by Infometrics shows the Government is using ACC as a cash cow by taking $350 million dollars more than needed out of the pockets of businesses and workers.

'The report shows that costs 700 jobs. It's tough for Kiwis to get secure, well-paid work. As a country we need those jobs each year.

'It's clear this Government is in a desperate struggle to get to surplus and Bill English is willing to make New Zealanders pay more than they should to get there. ACC is more than fully funded. It's time to give Kiwis a fair go.

'Today I am launching a campaign to stop this rort. I will be working with businesses to put pressure on National to cut ACC levies back to where they belong.

'The Government has got it wrong and every small business owner knows it. National is cutting jobs and growth when it should be cutting ACC levies."

Agree on that, and the outfit is hopelessly inefficient, costly and some.

And while you are at it look into the extortion that ACC perpetrates on motorcycle riders as well. If you want to talk about RORT'S that's an eye opener. At last MAYBE just MAYBE an opposition leader with some guts that will want some real answers to the whole ACC debacle. One minute ACC's going to be in the RED for years to come according to Dr. Nick Smith and they need to crank ACC levies through the roof and 5 or 6 years down the track ACC has funds coming out of their ears so big hearted ACC pay some back, BUT only to a selected few and not even the ones that had the biggest increases in the first place. Now that's a RORT of monumental proportions. Come on Andrew Kick ACC's butt over the Bike riders levies and you have Labour voters for life.
