Brainstorming education

Lead teachers from kindergartens, kura and schools from across the Bay of Plenty have brainstormed strategies on how to develop their school's environmental education programme.

Enviroschools is an initiative led and funded by Bay of Plenty Regional Council.

BOP Kindergarten and school teachers attend the Enviroschools Energiser Workshop.

Rotorua Enviroschools Facilitator Janie Stevenson says Enviroschools was a national programme supporting schools with developing sustainable, environmental practices and projects.

'Students are at the heart of the programme, playing a lead role in directing what will happen in their school.”

The Enviroschools Kickstart Energiser Workshop was held in Te Puke to address teachers' questions on school Envirogroups, as well as planning and vision mapping for the school year.

During the workshop, teachers worked through activities they could use with their students to develop their knowledge of sustainability and cultivate ideas on how to look after the environment in their school and community.

Bay of Plenty Regional Council provides funding and facilitators to support Bay of Plenty schools and kindergartens to be part of the Enviroschools programme with support from Tauranga City Council and the Tauranga Region Kindergarten Association.
