Use of drones debated

The use of a drone seen flying over Papamoa has sparked a lot of debate on social media this week after SunLive posted: Drone unsettles Bay's backyard dwellers.

A drone mounted with a camera was seen flying over a backyard in Dalton Place in Papamoa earlier this week, sparking concerns over privacy ad security.

Many people say there is nothing to be worried about if they see a drone flying over their house, others are not so sure and believe it's an invasion of privacy.

SunLive took the debate to the streets and asked members of the community how they would feel about a drone flyer over their yard.

Watch the video above to see what they had to say.

i am sure the airspace rules are tight for these things in NZ, however under review due to these toys. Current regulations state a few Km ban around airports. look at this link, https://www.caa.govt.nz/rules/nprms/NPRM_14-01_Part_102.pdf

Panic about nothing really, the spies have been able to see your back yard for decades, photo of what ever and some. Why panic now when you have had a glimpse of just one for a moment?

if one invades your air space, shoot it d why should you be subjected to such a blatant disregard for your privacy, as own, without your permission, as has been shown up in the the lower North Island recently by some creep flying his drone over a school swimming sports day filming kids!!!!, security reasons for their use is one thing, using them for your perverted pleasure is another, for me I would not have any hesitation in treating a drone like a duck in shooting season.

Now people why does every body thing that it's all about them, If a drone is flying around you it is 99.9% sure it is not looking at you it is looking at the something around you so don't be so it's all about me business and get a life. Are you going to stop Google from driving around their cameras are you going to stop helicopters air other aircraft as they have the same potential to do what you paranoid people think the drone is doing. Oh but it's different and I don't understand it, it was the same when the internet came out people didn't understand that either. With the technology around these days there are worse things than a drone, some have the technology to tap into your phone or listen to what you are saying and all sorts of other stuff.
