Team takes on Mount challenge

The Tauranga Police CIB Luncheon team is taking on the More FM Mount Everest Challenge, climbing The Mount 38 times - the equivalent of climbing Mt Everest.

Each member of the team will complete the challenge over 50 days, starting this Friday.

Running up The Mount 38 times is equivalent to climbing Mt Everest.

'All money raised will be split evenly between our three local surf clubs: Mt Maunganui, Omanu and Papamoa,” says Tauranga CIB Charitable Trust member Leona Smith.

'As you will know, the luncheon has been a strong supporter of our surf lifesaving clubs, and we are happy to continue to help where we can.”

The luncheon is asking people to make a small donation 'to this very worthy cause”.

'We acknowledge and appreciate your strong support of the luncheon over the years and would appreciate one more burst.”

The team who raises the most money will win a trip to Nepal.

'If we win this we will donate the trip to a worthy recipient from one of our many youth charities we have supported over the years,” says Leona.

'This would be a life changing experience for that person. With your help we can make it happen.”

So far, the team has managed to raise $500.

People wishing to donate can do so via the luncheon's Give A Little page:
