Lucky ticket wins $500k

It's a great start to February for a lucky punter who won $500,000 in Lotto's First Division from a winning ticket sold at Whakatane.

The winning ticket was bought from Whakatane New World.

Another lucky punter won $6.5 million in Powerball First Division on Saturday night's live Lotto draw. The winning ticket was bought at Hokitika New World.

Lotto New Zealand's Head of Corporate Communications Emilia Mazur says 2015 is proving to be incredibly lucky for Lotto players.

'This is the fourth time this year that a major jackpot has been struck, creating four new multi-millionaires in Auckland, Nelson, Palmerston North and now Hokitika.”

The prize is made up of $6 million from Powerball First Division and $500,000 from Lotto First Division.

Strike Four was also won by two players who won $60,442 each from tickets sold at in Te Awamutu and Te Anau. The winning tickets were sold at Te Awamutu Countdown and Te Anau Four Square.

Andrew and Glenys from Wellington spun and won $175,000 with the Winning Wheel on the live Lotto draw.

This week's Winning Wheel ticket was bought on MyLotto.co.nz from a player who lives in Auckland. The serial number is 442-30111771-20XX.

All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto's Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy.

Anyone who bought their ticket from any of the above winning stores should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it immediately at any Lotto outlet, online at mylotto.co.nz or through the Lotto NZ ticket-checker app.
