Serious Crash State Highway One, South Waikato.

Police are in attendance of a serious head on crash involving two cars that ocurred this evening on State Highway 1, Piarere, South Waikato.

Th elocation is approximately 7 km from Tirau.

Boith drivers were initially trapped in their vehicles.

Both drivers have serious injuries and are status 1.

One has been airlifted to hospital the second transported by road.

There are partial lane closures with diversions in place.

The Serious Crash Unit are investigating and it is hoped that the Highway will be clear soon.
