Suppression lapses for accused

A woman jointly charged with two men accused of murdering Takena Tiepa-Ranapia can now be named.

Name suppression lapsed for Hyacin Eruera, 40, when she appeared in Tauranga Registrar's Court this morning.

A murder investigation was launched after Takena Tiepa-Ranapia's body was found outside a house in Ohauiti on November 30 last year.

She is charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault with a weapon, namely a wrench.

These are the charges she is jointly accused of with Paul Taki, 37, and Hiakita Eruera, 36. Read more about their charges here.

Hyacin Eruera is also charged with possession of methamphetamine – a charge she pleaded guilty to when she appeared in court this morning.

She has entered a not guilty plea on the remaining charges and has been released on bail to reappear in court on March 24.

Hyacin Eruera was arrested following a police investigation into the death of Takena Tiepa-Ranapia.

Takena's body was found outside a house on Mansfield Street on Sunday, November 30, 2014.

A post-mortem revealed Takena was a victim of an assault earlier in the night.

Police arrested Hyacin after it was alleged she was involved in assaulting two other people during the altercation.
