Mussel man's arm trapped in machine

Greerton Fire Brigade were called to the North Island Mussel Processors after a man got his arm trapped in a machine this afternoon.

Northern Fire Communications shift manager Steve Smith says the man was out of the machine by the time they arrived at the Glenlyon Ave plant.


Mussel A man's arm was temporarily trapped in a machine at the North Island Mussel Processors in Greerton this afternoon.

'The call came in at about 1.10pm and our crew has since returned home,” says Steve.

'I am not sure if someone was taken to hospital, but as we were stood down, I assume it was all sorted before we got there.”

St John Paramedics were also called to the scene.

that will be $50,000 fine from Work Safe, against the employer, despite the fact that common sense says don't put your hand in a working machine.

Would also implie that machines have appropriate guarding in place so this sort of thing doesn't happen.
