New gallery manager announced

It's a new era for Tauranga Art Gallery, with the appointment of Mark Trufitt as interim gallery manager announced today.

Mark takes over from outgoing gallery manager Penelope Jackson, who resigned at the end of last year and has now finished at the gallery.

The Tauranga Art Gallery Trust has appointed Mark Trufitt as interim manager.

Tauranga Art Gallery Trust chairperson Phillida Perry says the appointment is an exciting one and the Gallery has a strong team heading into 2015.

Phillida says: 'As a board we look forward to working with Mark, with his wonderful experience in gallery project management, and indeed to working with the entire Tauranga Art Gallery team in 2015.”

Mark has most recently worked as exhibitions project manager at the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

Former gallery manager Penelope Jackson had worked at the gallery for 11 years, of which she spent the last five as gallery manager.

During her time the gallery's art collection grew to around 500 works and also went from deficit to surplus in her time as manager.
