What's on Today? High-energy action

Good morning Sunners,

Suit up and buckle in for a wild, action-packed Sunday!

Thundercats will race across the waters at Mount Maungnui today.

Mount Maunganui's top surfers are taking to the waves for day two of the 2015 Billabong Grom Series at Omanu Beach.

Junior surfers have already attended one selection camp and will continue to compete in national events this summer to gain top results and improve their chances of selection.

The Billabong Grom Series, presented by Oceanbridge, also acts as an entry point for many young surfers who make the step up from surfing at their home break and perhaps competing at a club level or at school.

Surf's up at the competition from 8am to 4pm at Omanu Beach.

Thundercats roar

High-speed inflatable boats will roar across the waters today, as Thundercats return for a second day of action.

Starting at 11am, today's races are the best opportunity for onlookers, as the boats speed across the beach from Tay St at Mount Maunganui.

Afterwards, there'll be demonstration rides offered to the public for a $10 donation for adults and $5 for children.

Jet Sprints speed

Day two of the world invitational championship is on at ASB Stadium today.

The inaugural 2014 ENZED V8 Jetsprints starts at 3pm, when V8 boats will power their way through a world-first stadium course in 14 hours of high-octane action.

Today's races are for the inaugural ENZED Stadium Jetsprints Cup, with guest teams from AU, CA and USA invited to the course.

Gates are open at 3pm until 9.45pm. Tickets are available at ASB Baypark ticket office – unless sold out prior.

SunLive will be bringing you photos of some of today's action.
