How to save your precious Monarchs in the home garden

If you've had monarch caterpillars on your swan plants, only to find that they have disappeared, wasps may be to blame.

Try taking some medium-sized, brown paper bags, inflate them by blowing into them (an inflated balloon may be placed in each one to keep them inflated, especially if it rains) and then tie the bags onto branches around the swan plants.

Wasps see the paper bags as the nests of rival wasps and avoid them. I've tried this method and it works - my new batch of caterpillars are doing well and no wasps in sight!
