All change at Domain Road

Motorists are being advised of delays next week as the Domain Road roundabout prepares to open to traffic in its final form, marking another milestone for the Tauranga Eastern Link project.

From Monday February 2, the temporary traffic configuration in place on the roundabout will change permanently, opening two lanes up to Tauranga-bound traffic travelling from Domain Road and Tara Road in Papamoa.

The NZ Transport Agency says work to prepare for the change starts on Wednesday, January 28.

Motorists are advised to drive with care and expect changes in the area whilst this work is carried out and the traffic management is in place.

On January 28 the lane markings approaching the roundabout from Tauranga (eastbound) will be changed, while Papamoa and Te Puke-bound traffic will be moved into separate lanes.

The existing lane arrows and roundabout markings will be altered to allow for these changes.

Between January 28 and February 1, the current roundabout configuration will remain in place, however work will be occurring next to the roundabout in preparation for the changes.

The SH2 slip lane from Te Puke to Tauranga will be closed at various times during the day while this work is taking place and traffic will be diverted through the roundabout.

From 6pm on February 1, major works will be carried out at the roundabout and by 6am on Monday morning the new roundabout will be opened to traffic (see above map).

This work is weather dependent, and if delayed will be undertaken on the next suitable day.
