Last night a thunderstorm watch was issued for the Waikato area after storm clouds formed over Waikato and Waitomo in afternoon.

This saw rain in the Bay and temperatures drop.

The watch has since been lifted and the MetService is predicting fine weather for the rest of the weekend.

However, cloud is expected to form on Monday bringing the chance of showers. This is also the forecast for Tuesday.
