Calls of the kiwi, kaka, and takahe are being drowned out by arguments over the governance of the Maungatautari reserve and the pest proof fence that protects it is at risk.
The fence, which boundaries the 3400ha wildlife haven, is under threat owing to a disagreement over the governance structure of the Maungatautari Ecological Island Trust.
