Drugs found in Papamoa raid

Four people are in police custody following a raid by armed police on a house near the intersection of Papamoa Beach Road and Palm Springs Boulevard earlier today.

Two men and two women are being interviewed after methamphetamine and stolen property was found during the search, says Papamoa police sergeant Phil Gillbanks.

Armed police searched this Papamoa house today.

Nearby business told SunLive about carloads of armed police arriving around mid-morning to search the property.

Eye-witnesses say they saw two children being taken away from the house during the search.

Police were looking for methamphetamine and cannabis, says Phil.

'A quantity of methamphetamine has been located, as well as a small amount of stolen property,” he says.

'Four people are being interviewed from that address. Charges are pending, but at the moment it's still early in the investigation.

'We've got to decide on charges and who is responsible for what at the moment. They are being interviewed and we are still investigating around the location.”

There are three flats at the house, but they are all known to each other, adds Phil.
