Four generations of one whanau gathered on a Tauranga marae.
Merewhiua Bennett is the kui – she had her four children immunised in the 1950s and 1960s.
Decades later, her niece Tiana had her daughter Summer immunised.
Then just this year, a proud and responsible Summer started her daughter Naia's courses of immunisation.
This is one whanau which has confronted and eliminated the threat of preventable diseases like measles, mumps, tetanus and whooping cough.
They are the Bay for Plenty District Health board's poster whanau for immunisation.

Well if one can do it why not the rest. Good for you Merewhiua. Not only Maori but a lot of European parents could follow this example. All the best.
Well done
