Threat closes WINZ office

The Napier Work and Income office was closed this morning after a threat was made over the phone to shoot staff.

The phone call was received at Work and Income's call centre this morning around 11.15am.

The female caller was complaining that she could not get an appointment today and then threatened to shoot people in the Napier Work and Income office.

Police were notified and the office and other MSD offices in the Dalton St building were closed and locked down.

Police searched several properties in Napier this morning and the woman was found around 12.45pm.

She is currently being interviewed by police.
