Two charged over Tauranga murder

Police have charged two men with the murder of 19-year-old Tauranga man Takena Tiepa-Ranapia.

Takena's body was discovered outside a house in Mansfield Street on the morning of Sunday, November 30.


Police have charged two men with the murder of Takena Tiepa-Ranapia.

Two Tauranga men, aged 37 and 36 have, been charged with his murder.

A 40-year-old woman from Tauranga has been charged with wounding and assault with a weapon, in relation to a stabbing on nearby Ohauiti Road that same weekend.

The two accused have already appeared in court charged with wounding in relation to a stabbing on the same night.

Name suppression was granted for the men when they last appeared in court.

The stabbing victim was released from Tauranga Hospital with minor stab wounds to his face and hands.

Police say enquiries into Takena's death are continuing and further charges have not been ruled out.

Police are still keen to hear from anyone with information about these incidents.

No weapon has yet been recovered and police are appealing for anyone finding any knives, sharp implements or discarded metal items such as wrenches or bars to make contact.
