New chief for Bay police

The new Bay of Plenty District Commander will be welcomed at a powhiwi at Te Papaiouru Marae, Ohinemutu on Monday.

Superintendent Andy McGregor is joining the district from the South Island where his most recent role was Canterbury Metro Commander.

Andy McGregor is the new Bay of Plenty District Commander.

He replaces Superintendent Glenn Dunbier, who has taken up a position in Wellington.

Andy was recruited from Christchurch in 1980 and has held a number of senior positions in Canterbury District, but is no stranger to the North Island having spent a number of years policing in Auckland and Gisborne.

He was also the National Manager Communications based at Police National Headquarters in Wellington between 2008 and 2012.

Time to Start Paying

Attention to those on the roads that wish to Tailgate, the 4kph over the speed limit has its place, but its time to Target those people that can't see past the end of their own bonnet, Start enforcing the 2 second rule, I for one, am sick of people who drive that close you would think I'm towing them - They can't all be short sighted (not physically anyway) but clearly they are where safety is concerned. While you are sorting that one out, time to put pay to those idiots who continue to run red lights, forever changing lanes and undertaking - Whats that all about ! You could also get to grips with those that choose to ignore the No Right Turn, No Left Turn, Etc. Clearly there are some morons using our roads - Good luck with that lot !!
