Residents in the Eastern Bay of Plenty had a rocky start this morning when an earthquake rattled the region.
The quake struck about 6.30am and registered 3.2 on the Richter scale.
GeoNet reports it had a focal depth of 10km and was centred 5km north-west of Whakatane.
